New England Patriots line-backer Harvey Langi and his wife survived a near-fatal car crash in Massachusetts on Friday night 17 October, which resulted in the injured couple rushed to hospital. Harvey’s wife Cassidy Langi stated on twitter on Monday “Thanks to everyone for the love and support! We are both focused on recovering from this.”

The Patriots Head Coach, Bill Belichick, told a news conference on Monday that the 25-year-old Tongan linebacker and his wife were still in hospital. Belichick stated “I think they are doing better. Serious, but not life-threatening."

He added, "We pray that they're being looked over and that they're doing better. It sounds like they are. But it was a very unfortunate situation, one that really I think shook everybody in the organization."

The collision occurred at the town of Foxborough in Massachusetts when a vehicle rear-ended the car Langi was driving. The impact propelled Langi's car into two vehicles in front of it. Emergency workers had to cut open Langi’s car in order to rescue him and his wife.

The New England Patriots released a press release following the accident. It stated. "We are aware of the traffic accident involving Harvey Langi and a passenger last night in Foxborough.”

“The two were stopped at a traffic light when they were rear ended by another vehicle. They were both transported to a local hospital with injuries and are receiving medical attention. Our thoughts are with Harvey, the Langi family and those who sustained injuries in last night’s accident."
