The family of a 4-year-old girl, Tea ('Ungatea) Lolohea – who was severely injured after she was hit by a vehicle on October 6 in Vava’u – are making a public appeal on "gofundme" and hope to raise $20,000 for overseas treatment.

Tea was hit by a car as she was crossing a road in Vava’u on Friday 6 October, sustaining a cracked skull and was rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to Vaiola Hospital in Tongatapu.

According to her family’s gofundme page, Tea was in urgent need of overseas treatment.

It stated, “Due to the minimal support that Tongan hospitals can give Tea we are urging for any support to have Tea considered for overseas medical attention.”

“There is a chance that Tea could pass away simply because she was unable to get the right medical attention in Tonga”, it added.
