The owner of Super Cheap, a car dealer in Nuku’alofa has been charged with obtaining money by false pretence from a client.

The complainant, a 39-year-old woman had visited the accused and deposited $8,400 pa’anga for a car, which was to be delivered to her after a month.

Police said after the one month, the complainant visited the dealer and understood that there was no car and that he had allegedly used the money for something else.

She filed the complaint with police. The accused was arrested and charged last week.

He remains in custody as police investigation continues.
