Rev. Mone re elected FWC President [1]

Rev. Dr ‘Alifeleti Malakai Mone has been re-elected for his ninth term as the President of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga during the 83rd Annual Church Conference that was opened this morning, by the Princess Regent, HRH Pilolevu Tuita.

Rev. Mone was re-elected as the president of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga FWC on June 14 during the annual meeting of the Church Whole Committee where votes were cast at the Centenary Church in Nuku...alofa.
When votes were rounded up, Rev. Dr Mone was well ahead with 276 votes followed by Rev. Dr ...Ahio with 61 votes, Rev. Dr Tevita Mohenoa with 6 votes and Rev. Dr ...Amanaki Havea with 5 votes.
Dr 'Alifeleti Mone was first elected as President of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga in 1998, and he has been president ever since.
The Whole Committee then continued to the election of the FWC church Secretary, and Rev. Dr ...Ahio was re-elected to his second term as Secretary as he was well ahead with 325 votes. He was followed by Rev. Dr Manase Tafea with 9 votes, Rev. Dr Mohenoa Puloka with 8 votes and Rev. Dr Kalapoli Paongo with 7 votes.
Rev. Dr 'Ahio was first elected as the FWC Secretary last year during the 82nd FWC annual conference where he replaced Rev. Penisimani Fonua who retired at the age of 70.
The church conference will end in Nuku...alofa on Thursday, June 22 and is attended by various church representatives throughout Tonga, and from Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and the mainland USA.
