The Child Cancer Foundation Tonga received a donation of $5,000 today from the chairman of the Reddy Group, owner of the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel, Mr YP Reddy, in Nuku'alofa.
Mr Reddy said he is delighted to donate the cheque to this great organisation, and will continue to do so, in the next two-years, as they are prominent supporters of this cause throughout the Pacific, with annual donations in New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and now Tonga.
"We want to do something for the Tongan society. It’s not just coming and making money and going again. We are not that kind of family, we want to help," he said.
'Evaline Ha’angana, President of the Cancer Foundation was grateful for the assistance which will help with special food needs and transport for medical appointments for children who suffer from cancer in Tonga. "This will help our work tremendously".
She said the donation would also be used to fund various fun activities at their centre for the children and their families.
The foundation assists up to six children suffering from cancer, mainly leukemia.
