A Tonga Day 2006 celebration on Monday, June 5 brought Tongans from all over the United Kingdom to the residence of the Tonga High Commission at Greenbanks, London.

Tongans came from Wales, North England and from the Midlands.

The Tongan High Commission reported that the celebration started at 11 am with a sermon conducted by Rev. Mele'ana Puloka on the theme, "God and Tonga are my inheritance". Taking part were Mrs Tu'ifua Veikune Barker, London; Rev. 'Iesinga Vunipola, Wales; Pita Liutai, the first Tongan settler in the UK, and Katilimoni Tu'ipulotu, both from the North of England; Vaohingano Fakatou, Midlands, and Father Mikaele Paunga.

The Tongan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom HE Dr Ngongo Kioa in a speech during the luncheon, elaborated on the theme of the morning sermon.
