A prisoner described as "dangerous" by Tonga Police has again escaped from custody and remains at large.

'Amoni Fifita who is in his 20's from Kanokupolu is reported to have escaped from custody at the Magistrate's Court on 8 May, where he was taken for a hearing.

This is his second escape from custody this year.

"He remains at large. Police are currently on the hunt for him," said a police spokesperson.

In January this year, Fifita and another prisoner had escaped custody at the Central Police station on 31 January.

After their case, they then went and robbed a shop owner at gunpoint, before being apprehended later.
