Ha'apai By-election date uncertain [1]

The date for the Ha'apai By election to replace Hon. Fineasi Funaki, the former Ha'apai No. 2 People's Representative has yet to be confirmed.
Pita Vuki, the Supervisor for the Election said today that he did not think the by -election could be held before Parliament opens next week, but the Constitution allows the House to convene and a by election could be held later.
He said the date for a Ha'apai by-election is to set from the Prime Minister, Hon. Dr Fred Sevele but since he is away in a meeting in Japan, they are waiting on the Acting PM Hon. Dr Viliami Tangi to set a date.
Meanwhile Fineasi has submitted his resignation as Ha'apai No. 2 People's Representative to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tu'i Ha'angana earlier this week.
The 2006 Parliament session will be officially opened by King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV on June 1.
