Details of a homicide investigation concerning the death of Uti Makasini (23) reportedly Tongan, from Redwood, California, have been released by Police from the US city of Memphis in Tennessee.

According to Memphis Police, on March 5, Uti Makasini was shot and killed by two men during an attempted robbery at a local hotel. The suspects fled in a dark gray Nissan Rogue.

Memphis police added that a preliminary investigation showed that prior to the attempted robbery Uti Makasini was “on the phone with an unknown person possibly making arrangements for a drug transaction”.

Makasini was with two other men during the incident, both of whom were unharmed. The suspects however, remain undiscovered with no arrests being made.

US law enforcement are appealing to the public for any information that could help with the investigation.
