Three people who were arrested with packets of cannabis in separate areas in Tongatapu over the weekend have been charged and are due at the Magistrate's Court.

Tonga Police said today two people were arrested on 2 March at a bush allotment known as Fonongahina in Tokomololo during a search warrant executed by police officers.

A 22-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested with seven packets of cannabis weighing around 7.1 grams.

On 4 March, at a parking at one of the bars in Nuku'alofa police arrested a 16-year-old boy who was in possession of one packet of cannabis.

All of the accused have been charged with possession of the illicit drug.
