Hotel renovations begin for Tonga Forum [1]

The renovation work of the Janfull International Dateline Hotel is currently underway for the Pacific Island Leaders Forum Meeting that is to be held in Nuku'alofa later this year.

Lucy Niu, the General Manager of the Janfull International Dateline Hotel, confirmed that that renovation work began on May 1 and is scheduled to be completed by September.

The exact date of the Forum Meeting is yet to be confirmed but it is thought it will be held in October later this year.

Lucy said the existing old wing, will be renovated and refurbished to accommodate 27 new suites and 80 new deluxe superior rooms that will be of a four star level.

The renovation work will include building new wall structures, new interior fittings, decorations and furniture that will come especially from China.

The old wing, which currently holds 76 rooms including the hotel administration office, has been closed since May 1.

The renovation work is to be conducted by a Chinese contractor as well as local sub-contractors to be hired.

Lucy who is confident the construction work will be completed as scheduled want the Tongan public to know that they are working very hard to prepare for the Forum Meeting, and that the hotel will achieve the International standard that is required for such a high profile gathering.
