Man's body recovered from Sopu reef [1]

The body of a man has been recovered from a reef off Sopu at about 4:00pm (UTC+14) today by a search and rescue team who were looking for a missing kayaker, Fisiatina Puafisi, last seen on December 23.

Tonga Police confirmed that a body was located about 1.3km north of the Hifofua wreck on the Sopu reef.

"We have not identified the body which has been taken to Vaiola Hospital," said a Police spokesperson.

Police would release further details after a formal identification was made and family had been notified.

The cause of death has also to be confirmed.

Ha'apai

Police said another search and recovery operation in Ha'apai over the weekend had not found another missing man, a German visitor, Frank Doblitz.
