BYU (Brigham Young University) football fans are offering their sympathies to the family of Reno Mahe whose 3 year-old daughter Elsie Mahe passed away on Tuesday morning at a Utah hospital after accidentally choking.
Reno Mahe is the assistant coach for the BYU football team and a former running back for the Philadalphia Eagles in America’s National Football League.
According to local reports Elsie had been in a week long battle to recover from a choking accident involving the cord of a mini-blind, but a lack of oxygen had left her "neurologically unable to recover" or brain dead.
The Mahe Family made an online statement yesterday stating, “Our Elsie girl has officially been released to heaven - at least from a worldly, paperwork stand point. Her second neurological death exam was also positive for brain death”.
“We feel peace and we are again so grateful for the privilege of being Elsie's parents. She continues to sprinkle love and hope across the world and I am in awe of the Lord and His marvelous plan for my sweet girl.”
A fundraising page set up for the Mahe family has so far gathered over $70,000 dollars.
