A four-year-old boy died at Prince Ngu Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, November 22 after being hit by a vehicle on Maiva Road in Hihifo, Vava’u.

Police in Neiafu said today the boy was sitting alone inside his father's vehicle that was parked beside the road. The boy's father and other workers had gone off to a plantation in this area, situated between Tefisi and Leimatu’a. 

It was alleged that the boy got out of the vehicle and was hit by a vehicle after 7:00am.

The boy was rushed to the hospital and died later that day from serious injuries.

A 52-year-old man, who was driving his van from Leimatu'a has been arrested and was in custody for questioning.
