The fate of three men tried for serious housebreaking and theft  is expected to be delivered this week in a Supreme Court verdict.

They were jointly charged of serious housebreaking and theft of more than $20,000 pa'anga cash from Pactrade Tonga in March this year.

Tomasi Live (30), Issac Prasad (29) and Siaosi Havea (21) who were jointly charged with serious housebreaking and theft were unpresented during their trial before Hon. Mr Justice Cato.

The Crown represented by ‘Elisiva ‘Akau’ola told the court on 4 March the accused were doing renovation and carpentry work of painting and tiling at the Pactrade Tonga Limited office, as contractual workers.

At about 8:50am on March 5, the manager and another employee went to the office and discovered that the safe inside the manager’s office had been opened and that there was break-in to the building. It alleged the housebreak and theft took place either midnight or early in the morning of 5 March.

More than $20,000 pa'anga cash was alleged to have been stolen from the safe. No money was recovered.

The prosecution closed its case today and the three accused chose not to give evidence or to call any witnesses.
