A man and a woman who were hospitalised for injuries received while drinking alcohol at Tatakamotonga on Sunday, September 18, have now each been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
"When the offence was first reported there was a claim of attempted rape. At this stage no attempted rape charge has been laid but investigation continues," said a police spokesperson.
The man, aged in his 30s, was hospitalised for injuries sustained when the woman allegedly stabbed him with a knife. The woman (24) had sustained a broken jaw from the alleged assault from the man while drinking.
Vaiola Hospital reported the alleged offences to the Police when they were admitted for treatment.
