A Non-Profit Organisation, Tonga Youth Employment and Enterpreneurship today launched a new recruitment website and donated computers that will assist their work in supporting youths access to information, trainings and job opportunities.

Rev. Tevita Tapueluelu from the Fasi Free Wesleyan Church launched the recuritment website www.tyeetonga.org [2], at its Head office in Fasi.

TYEE President Lusia Latu said the new website provides an online platform that will connect job seeking youths and employers. She said it will provide relevant information, support and opportunities for Tongan school leavers and young graduates age 18-29 who are unemployed, start their career journey.

The computers and recruitment website will certainly open up new doors of opportunities and possibilities to help our young people have better access to information, online trainings, job opportunities and much more, she said.

 “At TYEE our young people are being inspired, empowered to lead and make their own good choices when it comes to employment opportunities and training opportunities. We support them in making the transition from out-of-school to their first or new career journey. Our young people are the future of our country, the future workforce of Tonga.”

She said although TYEE is a small self-financed not for profit youth support service organisation, they have a lot of work running like in house trainings, which have made an impact on young people.

Started in 2014 with 27 registered youths, TYEE now has nearly 500 with them. Of this number, we have managed to put 100 youths into jobs and we would continue to provide support, she said.

Lusia also thanked donors Paul Murphy, CEO of Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) in Australia who provided the 15 computers, which was shipped to Tonga by Heilala Charity Group.

Present at the small event were members of TYEE Board Sela Bloomfield, Unouna Telefoni and staff.
