Rain further delays Tongatapu Show [1]

Tongatapu’s Royal Agricultural, Fisheries and Tonga Made Show 2016 has again been postponed to be held on August 26-27 due to wet weather.
This is the second delay of the event, which was initially set to be held on August 12-13, but due to the rain which affected Tongatapu the show was postponed to be held this weekend, only to be delayed again.
Hon. Semisi Fakahau the Minister for Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries said if the weather continues to be bad it will be further delayed.
Today, the Fua’amotu Weather Forecasting Centre forecasted the rain to continue into the weekend, as a heavy rain warning remains in force for Tongatapu, ‘Eua, Ha’apai and Vava’u.
King Tupou VI has opened the shows in the outer islands, in Niuatoputapu on 27 July, Niuafo’ou on 28 July, Vava’u on 30 July, Ha’apai on 3 August and ‘Eua on 6 August. Tongatapu was the last show this year.
The annual shows organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries aims to encourage the development and sustainability of the agricultural, fisheries and industrial sectors. On display are locally made products, food crops, seafood, fish fine handcrafts and livestock.
