Petroleum prices decrease [1]

The prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene deceased in Tonga for August to September, starting from today Tuesday, 16 August.

The reduction comes after five consecutive monthly rises.

The new retail prices including consumption tax:

  • Petrol 223.64 seniti per litre, 11.95 seniti decrease
  • Diesel 228.15 seniti per litre, 7.44 seniti decrease
  • Kerosene 150.55 seniti per litre, 6.78 seniti decrease

The Competent Authority stated the petroleum prices for this period is mainly determined by the movement of FOB prices in the Singapore market based on July 2016 average prices of the daily published Means of Platt’s Singapore (MOPS) benchmark prices.

Comparing the average prices of July to June this year, crude oil (Dated Brent) is down by USD3.23/bbl (6.7%). Kerosene and diesel prices are down by USD 3.91/bbl and USD 3.86/bbl each.

In addition, petrol prices fell significantly due to plentiful supply.
