A man is in Vaiola Hospital with serious injuries after a car in which he was a front passenger crashed into a brick house on Taufa'ahau Road at Malapo last night, Wednesday 27 July..

Tonga Police said today the male driver and a third passenger, a woman, sustained minor injuries and were not hospitalised.

The driver is in police custody and no charges have been laid at this stage.

It is understood that around 9:20pm the car was heading to Nuku’alofa. The driver allegedly lost control and crashed into the home belonging to Sione Tu’ivailala. "The family was inside the house and it was fortunate that the house is made of brick and no one was injured," said police.
