Woman dies after falling from moving vehicle [1]

A 26-year-old woman died after allegedly falling from a moving vehicle driven by her husband (27) on Friday night, 17 June, near Telekava cemetery in Kolomotu’a.

Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita said today the husband who has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol was released on bail on Saturday, 18 June.

He said the incident occurred at around 11:00pm when the couple was returning home to Nukunuku.

The wife was reported to have been sitting beside her husband in the front seat and had allegedly fallenl off from the moving vehicle as they were driving past the cemetery. She fell and rolled onto the side of the road sustaining serious injuries while a vehicle that was driving behind stopped to help.

The husband is said to have also turned their vehicle around and rushed her to the Vaiola Hospital, where she died.

The Superintendent said at this stage they had only charged the accused with the one count.
