To be held on February 21-22 the Tourism Summit is a joint initiative between the Tonga Visitors Bureau and Pacific Blue Airline.

Sandra Fonua of the Tonga Visitors Bureau office said that because of the importance for tourist operators to work collectively together to ensure positive growth in the industry, local operators from Vava'’u, Ha'’apai and Tongatapu would be meeting with three travel agents brought by the Pacific Blue Airline from Australia and two from New Zealand.

The Tourism Summit, will be officially, opened in Nuku'’alofa by the Minister for Tourism Hon. James Cecil Cocker and will continue to the Puataukanave Hotel in Neiafu, Vava'u, for its second and last day on February 22.

Sandra said on the first day of the summit major local tourist operators would have the chance to talk with each other and with the overseas visitors on future approaches for tourism development.

In Vava'u the participants will meet small tourist operators and experience the many potential Vava'’u has got to offer.
