Lord Tu’iha’ateiho has been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition (a bullet) following his arrest last night Wednesday, 4 May at his home in Ha’ateiho.

Tonga Police confirmed this afternoon the noble remains in custody in Nuku’alofa as their investigation continues and they said that more charges are expected to be laid against the noble.

A search warrant was executed at his home and he was arrested by police at around 7:00pm.

This is not the first time Lord Tu’iha’ateiho, the encumbent Ha’apai Noble's Representative to Parliament, has faced the law.

In November 2014, a Supreme Court judge found him guilty on one count of possession of a firearm without a license, namely a .22 automatic pistol.

He was fined $2,500 to be paid within two-months or in default face three-months imprisonment, during his sentencing in March last year at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.
