Australian Film Festival opens in Tonga [1]

An Australian film festival will be launched on Friday January 20, and running a Nuku'alofa's Star Cinemas until January 28, with films for all ages.

The festival, opens with a Gala Night invitation event on January 20, showing the Oscar winning short film Harvie Krumpet, and full length feature Lantana,.

There will be two shows again on Saturday afternoon, a children’s film, Hildegarde, 90 minutes; and Ned Kelly for 110 minutes. Then there will be a show every day from Monday to Friday, including films "Japanese Story", "The Tracker", "Looking for Alibrandi" and "Australian Rules". On the final day, Saturday January 28 there will be two shows in the afternoon, a children’’s film, The Magic Pudding, 76 minutes, and The Dish, 97 minutes.

According to a statement from the Australian High Commissioner, Nuku‘’alofa, this Australian Film Festival (also known as the Embassy Roadshow) is an initiative of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in cooperation with the Australian Film Commission.

The festival is supported by sponsors the Westpac Bank of Tonga and the ANZ Bank in Tonga.
