Armed robbers charged to appear in court [1]

Three men have been charged in relation to two armed robberies, using guns and disguises at separate Chinese shops in Nuku’alofa last week, will appear in court next week.
Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita said today the accused would remain in police custody to appear on Monday, 4 April at the Nuku’alofa Magistrate’s Court.
"We expect to ask the court to detain them further for our investigation," he said.
The men have been additionally charged in relation to the guns allegedly used to threaten the Chinese shopkeepers during the two incidents.
Two are charged with the alleged armed robbery on Monday, 21 March at a shop in Mailetaha where they stole $5,000 cash and electronics.
One of them is charged for the second armed robbery at a shop in Longolongo, on 25 March in which he allegedly stole $2,000.
Superintendent Fifita said only some of the cash had been recovered.
