New Zealand Immigration is encouraging Tongan citizens who wish to immigrate to New Zealand to register in the Pacific Access Category ballots that open on 1 April, to be considered for grant of residence.

Citizens of Tonga, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Fiji are encouraged to register in the Pacific Access Category ballots, whereby annually 250 Tongans and Fijian citizens, with 75 Kiribati and Tuvaluan citizens will be selected by ballot to be considered for grant of residence.

At the same time, Samoan citizens are encouraged to register for the Samoan Quota, where by 1100 Samoan citizens each year are also considered for residency.

Registration for the quota will run from April 1-29 for citizens of only these five countries who are aged 18-45 years.

The successful registrants selected from the ballot process will have until March 10, 2017 to lodge their resident visa application, and the principal applicant must have an acceptable job offer from a New Zealand employer.
