Tonga was placed seventh in the medal tally for the 22 countries that participated in the 12th South Pacific Games in Fiji in July.

Tonga won six gold, ten silver and six bronze medals. The medallists were:

Gold

‘Ana Po’uhila , shot put; Mele Hifo Uhi, women’s discus; Michael Burling, surfing, open men’s long board; ‘Anau Burling, surfing open women; Ashutosh Singh, Taekwando men’s middle weight; Maamaloa Lolohea, weight lifting, super heavy weight.

Silver

Melesia Mafile’o, (2) high jump, and triple jump; Ti‘o Fonohema and Soane Vaipulu, men’s beach volleyball; Michael Burling, surfing open men; Taekwando Team, teamwork; Jacinta Tufui, Taekwando women; Maamaloa Lolohea, (2) weight lifting snatch, and combining clean and jack and snatch; Paul Sitapa , Taekwando; ‘Ana Po‘uhila, women’s discus;

Bronze

Sinela Fifita, boxing super heavy weight;  Hausia Vaka, boxing heavy weight; ‘Epoki Faka‘osi, judo; Women’s Soccer Team, soccer; Yong Q Biao, Taekwando; Chunmei Qzan, Taekwando.
