Tourism Tonga appoints new staff [1]

The Tourism Tonga Authority Board has appointed new management staff with Mana Kite as Acting General Manager and Seini Taumoepeau as Acting Marketing Manager.
TTA Board members include Chair, Tomifa Paea (Vava’u representative), and Directors, Tevita Palu, Papiloa Bloomfield-Foliaki, Simana Kami, Finau Uata (Ha’apai representative), Kisione Pakalani (‘Eua representative), Tatafu Moeaki (ex-officio) and Acting CEO for [Ministry of] Tourism, Dr Palenitina Langa’oi (ex-officio).
Tourism Tonga in a statment siad they have a busy year scheduled with various projects underway, including upgrading signage for Fua’amotu International Airport, as well as directional signs and road maps for tourist attractions across Tongatapu, ‘Eua, Ha’apai and Vava’u. The Visitor Information Centres in Vava’u and Ha’apai are also being upgraded.
Tourism figures in Tonga are increasing with bookings for travel between June and September 2016 up 60% compared to the same period last year.
Further boosts to tourism in Tonga will stem from additional flights to Tonga with Fiji Airways flying direct to Vava’u starting in April and Tonga’s domestic airline, Real Tonga, planning to expand servicing regional gateways such as Fiji and Samoa sometime this year.
