Tonga's sedition trial postponed [1]

The sedition trial of Tongan MPs ‘Isileli Pulu, and ‘Akilisi Pohiva, and his son Po‘oi Pohiva, and Mateni Tapueluelu has been postponed until November after the Crown Law appealed for another month to prepare the case.

During a preliminary hearing in August it was decided that the case was to be submitted to the Supreme Court in early October. Chief Justice Gordon Ward will be the presiding judge.

Criminal charges of conspiracy to sedition, knowingly using a forged document, and publishing a seditious document, were brought against both of the Pohiva’s. Po‘oi Pohiva also faces charges of conspiracy to forgery, forgery making a false document, and forgery affixing an official seal without authority. ‘Isileli Pulu is charged with forgery, conspiracy to forgery and abetting sedition, while Mateni Tapueleuelu is charged with publishing a seditious document and knowingly publishing a false document.
