The opening of the $8.6 million pa‘anga new business centre of the Si’i Kae Ola Co. Ltd. on December 15 by HM King Taufa‘ahau Tupou IV, set a new standard for the retailing and wholesaling business in Tonga during the 21st century.

For the owner, Tevita Misa Fifita and his family, it is a monument of their business success, for Tongan construction companies it was an opportunity to show what they can do, and for the consumers it offers alternative prices. Meanwhile, for the many wholesale and retailers in Tongatpu it provides some serious competition.

The Si‘i Kae Ola Supermarket is the biggest retail and wholesale outlet in Tonga, and was built in a record time of nine months.
