A long hard battle for a two-acre prime business spot in the heart of Nuku‘alofa’s business centre, was won by a local business woman Robina Nakao and her company Fund Management Ltd.

The Tonga Appeal Court passed a verdict late last year giving Fund Management Ltd the ownership of the lease of prominent piece of land, in Hala Taufa‘ahau, between the Pacific Royale Hotel and the O. G. Sanft and Sons’ building, and the construction of an office building started in February.

The site was initially leased by Sam Wong who proposed a high rise construction there in 1995 but lost the lease when he failed to carry out the project. Other claims to the site were heard by the courts.

Robina was reluctant to talk about her building project, but the construction of the two-storey complex with a  total floor space of 1280 sq. metres, is being carried out by Fletcher and Royco Construction and expected to be completed by the end of October this year.

Fund Management Ltd. operates the Western Union Tonga, Taufonua Travel and Avis Rental Cars.
