Maxi Priest delighted young Tongans last evening at his Nuku‘alofa concert, filling up half of the Queen Salote Memorial Hall with hundreds of fans.
The night of fun began quite early in the evening at 7pm with Sydney based DJ Moto and DJ Manny jamming popular r&b tracks by Missy Elliot, Ciara, 50 Cent and many more while the teenage crowd waited eagerly for the star of the night to arrive.
When Maxi Priest and his band got on the stage at about 9:30pm the crowd went wild with just the mere sight of the star in his long dreadlocks and smooth dance movements.
Singing 15 of his most popular numbers such as Wild World, Crazy Love and That Girl the night of fun ended in Nuku...alofa just before midnight.
...Aisea ...Aholelei, the manager of "Fresh Off the Boat" of Sydney, Australia, the promoters of the concert, said that he was happy with the turnout and the most important thing for him was that the crowd enjoyed themselves.
Because this was the first time ...Aisea has expanded his promotion business to include his home island Tonga, he said the Maxi Priest concert was a learning experience for him in regards to his future shows. He is bringing the UB40 concert to Tonga in March 2006.
Maxi Priest and his band departed Tonga this morning December 15 for a Fiji concert.
