The Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Tuilaepa Malielegaoi, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polynesian Airlines, Richard Gates, attended the first Board meeting of the airline to be held in Nuku‘alofa, on June 19.
The Chairman said that Polynesian Airlines had just had another profitable financial year and the airline planned to further extend its services to Tonga. The airline has a fleet of two Boeing 737 800 aircraft and two Twin Otters.
Tonga and Samoa signed an open-air policy agreement last year, allowing the national airlines of Tonga and Samoa to fly freely between the two countries. At the moment Polynesian had one flight a week from Tonga to Auckland, and two flights a week from Tonga to Samoa, and once a week between Tonga and Sydney.
