Keith Moala. Nuku‘alofa. August 2002

Keith Moala is one person who will agree that small is beautiful, because with the small, 1.2m satellite disk that he is hoping will sell like hot cakes in Tonga, he said that viewers will be able to select from the 14 television channels.

Keith, a satellite engineer, believed that Free-to-Air satellite on the Ku band is the way to get television to the rural and the outer islands of Tonga because all that was required by each household was his 1.2m satellite disk.

Keith is the agent for the distribution of Canal Satellite Caledonie’s LBF Package to the islands of the Pacific including Tonga, Samoa, Niue, Tokelau, Kiribati, Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands. The Canal Satellite Caledonie is French, and even though 12 out of the 14 channels available are in French, Keith was optimistic that more English channels could be included.

Keith is currently the Manager of the USPNet, for the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji, but he is also the owner of the MEASIA ElectriCom Shop, Nuku‘alofa.
