The civil court case between Lali Media Group Limited seeking damages from the Government of Tonga for their banning of the Taimi ...‘o Tonga Newspaper in Tonga last year is to be settled out of court.

The Registrar for the Supreme Court of Tonga Manako Vi said that the case had been scheduled to stand trial in the Supreme Court on June 14, 15 and 16 but did not come into effect, because both parties met in Chambers and gave the indication that they are to settle damages and costs out of court.

The Registrar said that once the parties had reached an agreement then the next step was to apply for an order to be issued or for Lali Media Group to apply for the case to be discontinued.
