Dr. Alexander Muller delivers his birthday message to King Taufa‘ahau Tupou IV. Nuku‘alofa. July 2000

Dr Alexander Muller made his annual visit to Tonga to wish the King a happy birthday on July 4.

Dr Muller has been Tonga’s Consul General in Dusseldorf, Germany, during the past 20 years. He said that on this visit he brought a letter of congratulations from the German president to the king on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.

He said that the trade relations between Germany and Tonga were very warm. Even though there was little trade going on between the two countries, he received many inquiries from people who were interested in setting up businesses or investing in Tonga, “and some are interested to come and spend their holidays here,” he said. ▲
