The annual consultation meeting between TongaSat and a Satellite Committee of government got underway in Nuku’alofa for two days during the third week of August.

Both parties were tight-lipped about issues discussed at this year’s meeting, after a Confidentiality Agreement was accepted by both parties. A joint communique about this year’s consultation meeting will not be released until later this year.

Tonga’s membership with the WTO is understood to be a matter of great urgency, in order for any dealing with the USA to go ahead.

At at this year’s meeting, government had new Satellite committee members.
