Tonga came away from the second Junior Sumo World Championship that was held in Tokyo on August 19 with two medals—a silver for Kesomi ‘Aukafolau in the Open and  a Bronze for Minaminoshima Falevai,  Middleweight.

Naoko Afeaki, the secretary of the Tonga Sumo Federation said that the real success of their participation was that, “both Minami and Kesomi were approached by Japanese professional Sumo stables, and they are turning professional.” Naoko said that both wrestlers would return to Japan to train and to find a place for themselves in the world of Sumo Wrestling.
