Driver accused of harming woman pedestrian [1]

A 28-year-old man is in custody for reckless driving causing harm, after he allegedly hit a woman with his vehicle on the side of a road in Ngele'ia on Tuesday night, 22 December.
 
Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita said the woman who had just got out of her car parked on the side of the road was hit by the swerving vehicle driven by the accused who was allegedly drunk, at around 10:00pm.

The 46-year-old victim from Ngele’ia suffered bruises and is reported to be recovering.

Meanwhile, the accused driver from Havelu is charged with reckless driving causing harm and driving under the influence of alcohol remained in police custody today.

Fifita reminded and cautioned drivers to be more careful during this busy Christmas and New Year holiday season.
