Lavulavu trial expected to end this week [1]

The trial to hear an election petition filed against Hon ‘Etuate Lavulavu for illegal campaigning and corruption continued today Monday, 14 December when the Supreme Court in Neiafu heard some of the remaining witnesses for the defendant.

The trial before Chief Justice O. G. Paulsen was adjourned from last week heard 11 out of a total of 18 witnesses for Lavulavu. The trial is now expected to end this week.

The election petition filed by Viliami Uasike Latu claimed that Lavulavu had committed corruption and illegal activities including bribery during his 2014 election campaign.

The defendant in his case has denied the allegations.
