Eizo Ve’ehala became the first Tongan to successfully complete an International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO, Aviation Security Professional Management Course, the NZ Aviation Security Service AVSEC announced on 8 December.
According to AVSEC, the three-months course that was run by ICAO in conjunction with Concordia University, Canada enrolled 17 participants from the Asia Pacific region, including Eizo and a Fijian who works for Fiji Airways.
Eizo is an aviation security trainer with the Tonga Airports Limited TAL and his completion of the course has given him new skills and the opportunity to access a global network of aviation security experts, which in the long run will help with the development of TAL.
Eizo’s three-months course was funded by NZ Avsec and TAL.
Avsec is eager to build aviation security capability in Pacific Island countries like Tonga, which are last points of departure to New Zealand.
