Hufangalupe drowning victim named [1]

Police have named a drowing victim, as Haini Muller (24) from Fatai, who drowned at Hufangalupe Beach, Vaini on 26 November.

Police in Nuku’alofa today said reports received so far alleged the 24-year-old was drinking alcohol with four other persons, including three women and one man at Hufangalupe when the incident happened.

An investigation continues to determine what happened, said police.

A friend of the victim, Patolo Longopoa from Vaini, jumped into the water to try and find him.

A Police rescue team who were already at the scene managed to save only Patolo. They pulled out Haini who was confirmed to have died from drowning.
