New U.S. Peace Corps volunteers sworn-in [1]

A group of 15 U.S. Peace Corps volunteers were sworn-in on Saturday, 7 November at ‘Anana, Tongatapu.
The 12 women and three men are the 80th group of Peace Corps volunteers to serve in Tonga.
The oath of service was administered by Doug Sonnek, Deputy Chief of Mission from the U.S. Embassy in Fiji and Eddie Stice Peace Corps Country Director for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
The volunteers will teach English literacy skills at primary and middle schools in rural villages in Tongatapu and in the outer islands of ‘Eua and Vava’u focusing from Class 3 to Form 2 level.
The group joins 14 current volunteers in implementing the Peace Corps Tonga’s English Literacy Project, a joint effort with the Ministry of Education and Training.
