Some of the Pacific’s leading musical talents have come together and collaborated on an upbeat song, 'We are Family' in a recording initiated by Digicel to be launched this month throughout the region to celebrate the importance of families this Christmas.

The collaboration includes Stan from Vanuatu’s leading reggae band Stan & The Earth Force, 'Big Wilz and Fill' from the band Makare in Fiji, Angela Afeaki from Tonga, Jay Liesi and Bianca Noka from Papua New Guinea. Samoa is represented by Oski Brothers and Abner, Nauru’s leading artist rounds up the eclectic mix.

Part of an integrated marketing promotion, CEO Digicel Asia-Pacific Michael Murphy said they understand the importance of family and the significance it plays during the holiday season.

"This year we wanted to celebrate our families and the magical role they play in all our lives."

He said this is a track that friends and families in the Pacific can enjoy together during Christmas.

Composer and producer of Jamhouse studios Gary Smith worked in partnership with Digicel and Fiji born composer Peter Maxwell collaborated with the eight musicians and vocalists to create the original melody.

Digicel said it will introduce radio and television spots featuring the artists and the track, online and mobile experiences and in-store promotion.
