Two drivers were admitted to hospital and eight passengers injured when a bus and van collided at Pea this morning, Tuesday, 6 October.
Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita said the accident happened before 7:00am when a Delica van travelling east on Taufa’ahau Road collided with a Lapaha bus that was travelling to Nuku'alofa with more than 20 passengers.
He said the male driver of the van was hospitalised together with the male bus driver, both suffering from multiple injuries.
Eight other passengers in the bus had suffered minor injuries, including two who went to the hospital for x-rays, he said.
Fifita said the van driver would be charged with reckless driving causing injury.
