Man dies in Folaha house fire [1]

A 33-year-old man died in a house fire early Sunday morning, 4 October in Folaha, Tongatapu.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Salote Tonga confirmed today the deceased was believed to be the only occupant at the house when the fire occurred.

The fire was reported to the Tonga Police emergency number 922 at around 2:00-3:00am and the Fire and Emergency Services responded.

The victim's remains were found after firefighters distinguished the blaze, she said.

The house was made of wood and said to have been built in the 1960s.

The Fire and Emergency Service is investigating the cause of the fire.
