Suspended sentence for young driver [1]

Heneli Saafi 21, found guilty for manslaughter by negligence by a jury on August 13, was this morning sentenced by Mr Justice McElrea at the Supreme Court, Nuku'alofa to a two years suspended sentence.

Mr Justice McElrea sentenced Heneli to two-years suspended sentence on the conditions that he must carry out 120 hours of community service at the Ironman Ministry, attend all of its rehabilitation service and he must not drive a vehicle within the next three years.

Heneli was charged with manslaughter by negligence when he caused the death of two young people when the mini bus he drove ran off the road and hit a tree in January 2001.
