Two men from ‘Ahau who died at Vaiola Hospital early Saturday morning, 11 July were suffering from pneumonia, Tonga Police said today.

The Acting Chief Inspector Sofilisi Fifita of the Nukunuku Police District said Filimone Pahulu (29) and Tuilefu Tu'inauvai (30s) had died from complications of pneumonia, according to an inquest.

He said these were two separate incidents from the same village. One of the men had collapsed at home while the other at a kava drinking club before being rushed to hospital.

Both men were reported to have been ill but were not taking proper care of their health nor resting, he said.

Police recorded five deaths in the weekend, which included one homicide of an alleged stabbing in the CBD, two drownings at Veitongo and the two illnesses.
