Katri Ha'unga of the Tonga Host Organizing Committee said that the week-long program for contestants begins on November and the winner of the Miss South Pacific crown would be announced on the evening of November 11 at the awards function to be held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
The four judging events of the pageant are the sarong/swimwear, talent, traditional costume and stage interview.
Katri said that the seven contestants registered are: Miss New Caledonia, Miss Cook Islands, Miss American Samoa, Miss Samoa, Miss Solomon Islands, Miss Niue and Miss Tonga.
Meanwhile, Katri said that the committee was still looking for sponsors and they have appealed to the Tonga Government and major companies to help in sponsoring prizes and accommodation of the contestants and their chaperones.
This is the third time that Tonga will host the Miss South Pacific Pageant. The pageant was last held in Tonga in 1995 and 1999.
