A 32-year-old local man was found dead outside the Treasure Island Resort on ‘Eueiki Island in Vava’u on Saturday evening, 6 June.

Police in Nuku’alofa today said an inquest had confirmed that the man from Pangaimotu, Vava’u, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police are investigating a possible suicide case. “Police found text messages he had allegedly sent to his partner but our investigation continues,” said the police spokesperson.

The man was working as a security guard at the resort. At around 6:00pm another security guard found him dead outside the resort with a .38 revolver next to the victim.

The security guard reported the death to police in Vava’u.
